In 2021, I was eager to release my first album to the world with the goal of building a portfolio to get hired for scoring video games and films, but I quickly realized directors might be unlikely to hire me if they knew I was 13 years old. That’s why I decided to post music under an artist name.
I wanted something unique that was unlikely to be used by anyone else, so I landed on the name “Trtle.T”. Over time, I started using my artist name and real name interchangeably after realizing my name didn’t reveal my age.
Today, I still post music under my artist name not only because it’s not possible to change your artist name on streaming services, but also because the name has become inseparable from a lot of my early music.
Sometime in the future, I plan on merging both this site and my music site into one.
